Our Story
Then . . .
The Baltic and East Nidaros Parish has roots extending over 150 years into the past when the Nidaros Church was organized on August 12, 1868. Five years later, the first resident pastor, Rev. O. O. Sando was installed and served the Nidaros Congregation for the next 30 years. The Nidaros congregation expanded with the first church (now Renner Lutheran) built in 1878, followed by St. Olaf (Baltic Lutheran) built in 1903, and East Nidaros Lutheran and West Nidaros Lutheran Churches both built in 1911. Worship services were held in these four churches until the next chapter of our story began in 1957.
And Now . . .
Between 1957-1958 the Baltic Lutheran Church and the East Nidaros Lutheran Church formed the Baltic Lutheran Parish which continues to serve our community today. For over 60 years, these two churches have not been ashamed to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:16) We are one parish with two churches centered on the cross of Jesus Christ. We offer Sunday School education from preschool through Confirmation and Bible studies for adults. The gathering of people of many generations engaged in worship has been and continues to be the focus of our parish. Our worship services blend a variety of music and messages relatable to all ages.
